The Bureau of County Audits
examines the records of district courts and county offices to ensure that commonwealth fines, costs, fees, taxes, restitution, and surcharges are properly assessed, collected, receipted, and remitted to the appropriate state agency.
The Bureau of County Audits also conducts examinations of the liquid fuels tax funds of all municipalities and counties that receive liquid fuels allocations. Auditors ensure that the funds received were expended in accordance with various laws and Department of Transportation regulations.
