Robert Teplitz Chief Counsel and Policy Director

Robert F. Teplitz serves as the top legal and policy advisor to Auditor General Jack Wagner, having been appointed as both chief counsel and as director of the office of policy and planning on Jan. 19, 2005.

Teplitz supervises the department's lawyers, special investigators and policy analysts, in addition to assisting the auditor general and other members of the department's senior staff with the daily management and operation of the department.

Teplitz's current position marks his return to the department. Most recently, Teplitz served as legal,

policy, and communications advisor to Sen. Jack Wagner as Wagner’s executive assistant and counsel in the State Senate. Between 1998 and 2003, he served as the special assistant to the chief of staff and as deputy chief counsel to Auditor General Wagner's predecessor, Robert P. Casey, Jr. He also served as policy director for the Casey/Wagner ticket during the 2002 gubernatorial campaign.

Before entering state government, Teplitz worked as a lawyer in private practice with the Harrisburg law firm of McNees, Wallace and Nurick LLC.  He has also taught as an adjunct professor at Widener University School of Law.

Teplitz has been honored as one of fifty lawyers under forty years old "on the fast track" by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. He received a juris doctor degree, cum laude from Cornell

Law School in Ithaca, NY. He received a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, where he was also elected as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Teplitz lives in Harrisburg with his wife Randi and their two sons.
